David B. Brennan is the author of A New Flame Kindles in America, a historical novel set in the years before the American Revolution. The manuscript was named a finalist in the 2024 Faulkner-Wisdom Competition (Novel Category). His short fiction has been shortlisted in the Faulkner-Wisdom Competition and longlisted for the W.S. Porter Prize anthology.
In researching the novel, Brennan visited the principal locations of the narrative, including Saint Eustatius, Johnson Hall, Fort Johnson in Johnstown, Sir William Johnson’s ancestral home in Smithtown, Admiral Peter Warren’s Irish home in County Meath, the Lake George battlefield of the Bloody Scout, and key sites in colonial New York City.
For more than three decades he has advised entrepreneurs on investments, capital needs, growth strategy, and liquidity planning. He serves on the Advisory Council of the Harry Ransom Center and on the Advisory Board of the Irish Repertory Theatre. He and his wife, Deirdre, live in New York City and maintain a country home in Ireland.
